Josh LaBerge and Dan Bonnell

Wilmington, Ma

On September 26th, the WCF will make it’s 8th appearance at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Ma. One of the first fights announced for the event will feature Team Gillett’s Josh LaBerge against Renzo/NH fighter Dan Bonnell. Laberge, having won his last 2 fights (6 days apart) was recently awarded Fighter-of-the-Month by NortheastMMA.net. His last victory coming against Strikezone’s Chris Simmons at Bellator 2. Bonnell is coming off a loss to newly crowned WCF bantamweight champ Dan Ferrer. Bonnell was fighting for the 1st time at 135 and it was clear the weight cut played a factor. Before the fight with Ferrer, Bonnell had won 5 in a row, all with the WCF, earning him the title shot against Ferrer. Bonnell says, “It’s a big fight for both of us. I’m looking forward to beating Josh LaBerge. He’s a tough kid, strong, athletic and he has powerful punches. But he makes mistakes, I’ll capitalize on those mistakes. This is my house (WCF/Wilmington), I’m 5-1 in my house. No ones coming into my (expletive) house and taking food from my mouth!

LaBerge will be making his WCF debut and it’s his 2nd straight bout against a top-ten opponent. ” I wanted another top-ten guy and I got one of the better ones, so a win will be that much better”! Said LaBerge. “Dan’s a tough guy and he has good hands, I’m ready to slug it out and put on a great show.” When informed of Bonnell’s comments, LaBerge would go on to say, “It’s HIS house? Well he’s gonna have an unwelcome guest come the 26th! Tell him to put the soup on!” (LaBerge got introduced to the fight game by “grappling for soup” while serving a 3 month sentence when he was younger).
